Alte International Medical School

International Medical School offers Medical Doctor and Dentistry programs to Georgian and International students. The international medical program follows the standards set by the World Federation for Medical Education. The International School of Medicine is a member of both the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE). The diploma of Alte University is recognized in all European countries, in the USA by ECFMG, in Turkey, India, and in many other countries.

 

The course is taught in English. After the course completion, degree holders can continue their study for a Doctorate, or apply for a Residency course, or a residency course equivalent in accordance with laws of their counties, and after completing a standardized unified state examination can begin to pursue their own medical practice.

Alte University is a fully accredited higher education institution with 20 years of experience and history in the Georgian educational sphere, which unites more than 2,100 students from 15 countries at 4 schools: Business School, International School of Medicine, School of Law and School of Humanities and Social Sciences. The Medicine Course:

  • The course is 6 years and is taught in English. Graduates will be awarded Certified Medical Professional award.
  • The course offers integrated teaching with an innovative approach, to provide both basic and clinical understanding of organ systems, as well as developing the necessary knowledge, skills, and values required for the field of medicine. The course takes place over four phases.
  • Phase 1 – Foundation
    • Key foundational fields such as biochemistry, anatomy, and physiology are integrated with practical fields such as radiology and clinical skills, to provide a practical understanding of all theoretical fields.

    Phase 2 – Pre-clinical

    • Understanding the syndromic and symptomatic effects of disease by clinical analysis of patient condition.

    Phase 3 – Clinical

    • Identification and analysis of medical diseases specific to disciplines such as obstetrics-gynaecology, paediatrics, surgery, as well as others, during shifts at a hospital.

    Phase 4 – Actual Clinical Practice in hospital settings

    In the fourth clinical practice phase of the course, the knowledge accumulated throughout the five-year course, is applied in the following ways:

    • To conduct independent, clinical procedures in a hospital environment, in leading Georgian hospitals, and clinics, both independent, and under the Evex group of hospitals, as well as the Iv. Bokeria University Clinic.
    • To conduct independent, medical research.
    • To take part in relevant seminars, and workshops, conducted by both Georgian and international experts.
    • To be part of medical research, in various forms, and with varied responsibility.
    • Preparatory courses for the United States Medical Licensing Exam, for residency in the US.
    • Preparatory courses for the Foreign Medical Graduate Exam, for residency in India.
    • Exchange programs and courses in leading Asian and European universities.

The Dentistry Course:

  • The Dentistry course is 5 years and is taught in English.
  • The program is based on the ECTC system, which is maximally student-centred and based on their academic workload, which is needed to achieve the goals of the curriculum.
  • The program includes 300 credits
    • 1 credit = 30 hours
    • 1 hour = 60 minutes (50 + 10)
    • 300 credits of the program = 9000 hours
  • The credit expresses the educational load required for the student and can be obtained through the achievement of learning outcomes, which is reflected in Order # 3 of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, 2007 and one of the positive assessments of the regulation of the educational process at Alte University.
  • The credit includes contact and independent working hours. During the semester, the student should preferably achieve an average of 30 credits and 60 credits per year. however, depending on the specifics of the student’s individual curriculum, the number of credits per year may be less than 60 or more, but not more than 75.
Stage 1: Application Form
  • A completed application, competed by Med Guide Europe on be half of students.
Stage 2: Required Documents

  • A  copy of  passport (photo page)
  • A copy of complete general education certificate or its equivalent and its supplement/transcript of academic record issued by a foreign educational institution

After all required documents are submitted and considered, Med Guide Europe issues a conditional admission letter.

Stage 3: – Interview
Alte University will invite applicants for an online or face-to-face interview. The video will be recorded for future reference. Med Guide Europe will assist students with this.
Stage 4: – Recognition of foreign education
Med Guide Europe translates documents into Georgian, notarizes, and submits an application to “Legal Entity of Public law (LEPL) – national centre for educational quality enhancement”, for official recognition of foreign education.
Stage 5: – Enrolment
Med Guide Europe will enrol students.
Stage 6: – Paying Tuition Fees
The successful applicant will have to pay at least half of the yearly tuition fee via bank to Alte’s bank account in order to receive an enrolment letter.

  • The cost of living in Tbilisi  is relatively low. Life is generally easy, overall, the student community is inclusive, welcoming, and very diverse.
